TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY TO REDUCE THE RISK OF INJURY AND/OR DEATH
Summer is almost here, to help reduce the risk to you and your family, here are some health and safety things that will help.
- Tell your employer when it is too hot
- Drink lots of liquids – water is a good drink
- Try to avoid all your heavy work between 12:00 noon and 3:00 pm
- When working and/or playing outside, ensure you use sunscreen – again 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm when UV is at its highest
- Ensure to read signs in all outdoor parks for inspects that can cause you health problems.
- Watch out for bee’s, wasps and hornets
- Employee’s have the right to know – in the workplace
- Always wear shoes when cutting green
- Ensure your lawn cutter blades are sharp – it makes your lawn look a lot better
- Check to see if all your windows and door screens are clean, fit and do not have any holes.
- Employers ensure all make-up air systems are working properly, now is the time!
- Check the air conditioning to see if the filter is clean and in place. Also, check to see if the fluid pressure is okay.
- When possible, open windows and lower the A/C setting reducing green house gases – Do your part this year, 2008
